Hello, I’m Lekisha Maxwell, a resident of Westland for 15 years and a visionary for Westland. I’m a dedicated community volunteer, champion for youth and advocate for Veterans and families.  Having political aspirations to serve, I am running for Westland City Council to expound upon issues that will be impactful in bringing and supporting our youth, seniors, public safety, public service, parks and recreation, veterans, and at-risk families, along with economic gains for the community.

As community leaders, we must be deliberate and intentional in our steps in creating an atmosphere of inclusiveness, empathy and understanding. My strong financial expertise and experience with budgets, projections, effective communication, program leadership, project management and an MBA in Strategic Leadership from Walsh College, will be valuable in the decision-making process for the citizens of Westland.

I am honored to have mayoral appointments which include the Municipal Service Bureau, Westland Housing Commission Vice President, and the Economic Development Commission. Other notable accomplishments and services include; Western Wayne NAACP Veterans and Military Affairs Chairman, Western Wayne NAACP Economic Development, Westland Norwayne Citizen’s Community Council Trustee, and most recently, 2024 Westland Citizen of the Year Award.

What drives me is our shared idea of a beautiful city. I’m here to listen, engage, and act. With your support, we can turn this vision into a reality. Remember your voice does matter. I’m LeKisha Maxwell and I’m running for Westland City Council.

Live well, be well, vote for Maxwell
